A downloadable game for Windows

A "form study" of an adventure Cyberpunk game, and my submission to a 7day Cyberpunk gamejam.

Partly a thematic and functional test of a full-fat cyberpunk game I'd like to make and a challenge to see just how much of the game could I make from the ground up in just seven days. (Big hint: Not much!)

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE! (And lessons learnt)

Due to terrible time management (and working around a full time job) at the moment there's not much more than the apartment room and the rest of the building interior. You can interact with the phone, music player and your apartment door but that's it for now.

I had a lot of fun putting this together but if I were to do it again (and within the 7 days limit) I'd 10/10 spend less time modelling and more time making, you know, game-play xD

On the plus side I learnt heaps about hard surface modelling, gotot materials and 3D scene lighting/reflections etc and have refined my workflow in Godot quite a lot.

CONTROLS:

Look around by moving the mouse, toggle mouse-look with [ESC]
Move with [WASD] or [Arrow Keys], jump with [space] if you feel the need and interact with things under the cross-hairs with [E]

FREE ASSETS USED: (For the curious)

I made sure that any assets I didn't make (or was not able to make) would be either cc0 or public domain if possible, and freely available to everyone in the Gamejam or out of it.

  • www.cc0textures.com - Fantastic website, invaluable PBR assets. Highly recommend a look. Cannot overstate how useful this site has been.
  • https://blokatt.itch.io/bktglitch - Source of the fantastic VHS Glitch shader you see I've put on everything, downloaded and I converted it from a GMS format to a custom shader that Godot supports (took a while but was relatively straightforward as Godot supports a shading language very similar to GLSL). While I was only able to get about 80%/90% of it to work, go check out blokatt's page for the real deal, and while it's free; if you like it throw them a few bucks!
  • https://www.dafont.com/potra.font?l[]=10 - This is where the Public Domain font I used for the title art everywhere came from. Decent site  and can filter on licence, very useful.
  • And of course the excellent music is from Kai Engel, who's work I use quite a lot, check em out at: https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Kai_Engel/Caeli/ and the track in question is Soli. Much of their music is free and fantastic, so go check it out and show them some love!

Honourable mention to https://github.com/jayanam/fast-carve as while I couldn't get it to play nice with my PC and stop crashing, it is a fantastic Blender addon and the ideas and videos behind it greatly informed my Hard-surfaces modelling workflow. Once Blender 2.8 exits Beta status I will be revisiting this addon for sure!

is  there any more than exiting the room and running around? can't find anything else to interact with

Same

Unfortunately that's it for now.
I bit off a bit more than I could chew around the 9-5 weekdays :S
You can interact with the door, the music player and the phone, other then that it's more tech-demo less game, sadly.
